Tottenham On My Mind is a fan’s blog about Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs. History and current news.
The club fills my life, my thoughts, overwhelms my senses. I’ve stood and now sit on the Shelf since 1970. In a rapidly changing world the team is my only constant, boy and man. At an age when I should know better, I want to write about it. Need to. Have to. There’s too much stuff cluttering up my mind.
You’ve come this far. Stay awhile and this is what you’ll find.
Regular pieces based around the matches but more than just a match report.
Articles about anything that’s happening at the club.
Pieces about British football in general.
If you know your history, you’ll realise that it helps us understand how we became who we are, yet in a society obsessed with instant gratification, we can so swiftly be cut adrift from the very events and forces that shaped us. And we are the fans. Utterly loyal, often ignored and marginalised in this age of sponsorship, inflated ticket prices and satellite television. Players, managers and chairmen come and go, some last longer in the memory than others, but whatever, we keep coming back for more. Just can’t let go. Oral history values and validates the voices of the people who were part of the story. Look out for an oral history of the special moments and players.
Thanks for dropping by.
